President & CEO
Terrell Davis Ed.S., is a 27-year educator, spending the 25 years in Administration, Mr. Davis currently serves as the Director of Kansas Starbase Wichita a Department of Defense STEM program, and is the President and CEO of Hope in 3-D a non-profit organization specializing in programming and mentoring at-risk youth in Kansas, he is the immediate past Head of School for The Independent School and formerly served as the Executive Director of Public Affairs and Special Projects for USD 259. Mr. Davis was a stellar and award-winning Middle School Principal, serving as Principal at Truesdell Middle School, Dean Ray Stucky Middle School and Mayberry Cultural and Fine Arts Middle Magnet School. Mr. Davis proved to be an outstanding leader at all three appointments. From 2004 to 2004 Mr. Davis led Mayberry Cultural and Fine Arts Middle Magnet to unparalleled academic improvement in both Math and ELA and earned AYP for the first time in school history in 2005. Mr. Davis led Dean Ray Stucky Middle School in making AYP in 2007 and Kansas Standard of Excellence distinction in 2007, 2008 and 2009. In 2011 Dean Ray Stucky Middle School gained national acclaim as the Middle School National Champion in TARC, Team America Rocketry Challenge (Highest Ranking Middle School Team). Under Mr. Davis’s leadership Truesdell Middle School was transformed from the lowest performing Middle School in Kansas to an award-winning school and model for school turnaround and improvement. Mr. Davis was able to lead Truesdell unprecedented heights and accomplishments over his 5 years there such as yearly being awarded the Kansas State Challenge Award for exceeding academic expectations on State Assessments, being the only Title One school to make TARC Nationals, athletic championships in Girls’ Basketball and Track, and receiving 1’s in Band and Choir. In 2017 Mr. Davis was awarded Kansas Middle School Principal of the Year and led Truesdell in being named 2017 Kansas Middle School of the Year.
Mr. Davis not only an outstanding Academic Leader but he is also a sought-after public speaker and conference presenter. Mr. Davis has been honored to present and speak at national conferences, banquets, and community events. Mr. Davis has served as the Keynote speaker at the National TRIO Day at Wichita State University, and community wide Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Keynote speaker in Hutchinson, KS, Salina, KS, Topeka, KS, and Tulsa, OK. Mr. Davis continues to be a yearly presenter at national conferences such as: AASA (The School Superintendents Association), NSBA (National School Board Association), CUBE (Council of Urban School Boards), National Middle School Conference, NABSE (National Association of Black School Educators) and the National Drop-Out Prevention Conference. On the state level Mr. Davis has presented at the KSDE State Conference, KASB State Conference, MTSS State Conference and the ACT State Conference.
Finally, Mr. Davis has been successful advocating and lobbying for Wichita kids at the capital and Kansas kids at the federal level on Capitol Hill. In Kansas, Mr. Davis successfully advocated for At-Risk funding and High-Density At-Risk funding, and in 2021 he successfully drafted, advocated, and testified for his Early College bill to become law, allowing for Kansas School Districts to pay tuition and books for students to take dual and concurrent college classes using district funds. Mr. Davis crafted Rep. Brenda Landwehr’s signature legislation the Mental Health Pilot and was instrumental in securing a $10 million dollar proviso in 2018. This past month Mr. Davis was one of 3 school leaders to be invited to testify at the Kansas legislative Special Committee on Education meeting, where he provided testimony regarding Student Achievement and proposed the use of a multiple data point evaluation system to the committee. For the past 5 years Mr. Davis has been a member of the Kansas State delegation to advocate in Washington DC for Kansas Kids, and has hosted Senators Pat Roberts (ret.), Jerry Moran, and Congressman Ron Estes in the Wichita School District because of his successful advocating for Kansas kids.
Mr. Davis also has served as the Pastor of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Wichita, Kansas for the past 22 years.
Terrell Davis is the father of 2 sons: Terrell II and wife Diamond, and Cameron. Pastor Davis also has two grandsons Trey and Amari. Mr. Davis has a BA in Communications and Theater Arts from Sterling College in Sterling Kansas, he has a Master’s in Education from Newman University in Wichita, Kansas, and has an Educational Specialist degree from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
